PRIVACY POLICY
This policy explains what TEKRISE ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our AI golf swing-analysis app and website, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible — for example, your full recording never leaves your phone; only a short clip of the swing does.
01 Who Can Use TEKRISE (Age)
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the app. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you must be at least 16 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if it is higher).
TEKRISE is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask for your date of birth or age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete the account and associated data.
A parent, guardian, or coach who is 13+ (16+ in the EEA/UK) may use their own account to record and analyse a younger player's swing — but only with the consent described in "Videos that include other people" below. The account, and responsibility for it, belongs to the adult or eligible user, not the child.
02 What We Collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address and the name you provide at sign-up, or the equivalent details from a Google or Apple sign-in if you use one. You can also start as a guest without giving us an email — a guest session uses an anonymous identifier, and you can convert it to a full account later. Authentication is handled by our backend provider (Supabase); we do not store your password ourselves.
- Player profile — your dominant hand, self-described playing level, and gender (male, female, or "prefer not to say"). Gender is optional — choosing "prefer not to say" is fine. We use these only to tailor the coaching feedback, because typical swing mechanics can differ. We do not use gender for advertising or share it for marketing.
- Your choices — your acceptance of our Terms, your notification preference, your language, your advertising-consent choices, and whether you opt in to "Help improve TEKRISE".
- Messages you send us — if you use the feedback form in the app or on our website, we receive your message together with your name and email address so we can read it and reply.
Information created when you analyse a swing
- Swing video clip. When you record or upload a swing, the app saves the full video on your device and uploads only a short clip — capped at about 3 seconds — of the swing itself. The full original recording is not uploaded; it stays on your phone.
- Audio. Recording hands off to your phone's own camera app, which may capture sound. That original — audio and all — stays on your device. The short clip we upload and analyse has its audio track removed, so no audio is ever uploaded or sent to our AI provider.
- Movement & technique data. We process the clip to derive body-position ("pose") data and biomechanical measurements such as joint angles and body rotation. This describes how you move and is derived from your video.
- Analysis results. Your overall score, per-phase scores, the shot type, and the written AI coaching feedback generated for each analysis.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & entitlement data — counts of analyses you run, which coach you chose (Standard or Grand Slam), your subscription tier, and rewarded-ad credits, used to enforce usage limits, run subscriptions/ads, and detect abuse.
- Crash reports & basic app analytics — if the app crashes we receive a crash report (what went wrong, plus your device model and operating-system version), and we receive basic activity signals such as when the app is opened and how long a session lasts. This is handled by Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics). We do not attach your name or account to these analytics events and we do not use them to build an advertising profile of you. There is currently no in-app switch to turn crash reporting or these basic analytics off.
- Advertising identifiers — where ads are shown to you, your device's advertising identifier is used by Google AdMob to serve and measure them. See How we share it and Your rights & choices.
- Notification token — if you allow notifications, your device registers a push token with us so we can send them. You can turn notifications off in your profile or in your device settings.
- Basic technical data — such as the app version/build, needed to keep the app working and to require updates when necessary.
03 How We Use It
- To record, analyse, and score your swing and generate AI coaching feedback.
- To personalise that feedback using your profile (dominant hand, level, and gender).
- To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
- To run subscriptions, rewarded ads, and usage limits, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To send you app notifications, if you have allowed them.
- To read and reply to messages you send us.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the service, and to comply with legal obligations.
04 Our Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Performance of a contract — creating and running your account, analysing your swings and returning coaching feedback, and providing any subscription you have bought.
- Consent — your optional gender, the optional "Help improve TEKRISE" setting, push notifications, and personalised advertising where consent is required. You can withdraw any of these at any time, without affecting processing that already took place.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure, enforcing usage limits, detecting fraud and abuse, diagnosing crashes, and understanding whether the app is working so we can improve it. We weigh these against your rights and interests.
- Legal obligation — keeping records we are required to keep, such as billing and tax records.
05 How We Share It
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the app, and only for the purposes below.
- AI coaching provider (Google). To generate your feedback, we send your short swing video clip together with the movement and technique data derived from it — the body-position ("pose") keypoints and biomechanical measurements — along with the shot type, dominant hand, and gender (when set), to Google's Gemini AI service, which processes it and returns coaching text. We do not send your full original recording; only the short swing clip leaves your device, and it carries no audio. This processing happens on Google's systems and is subject to Google's terms.
- Clip storage (Cloudflare). Your uploaded swing clips are stored using Cloudflare R2 object storage. Clips are not publicly listed or browsable — playback uses short-lived links generated for you.
- Hosting and database (Supabase). Your account data, your analysis results, and your usage records are stored with our backend provider.
- Subscriptions (RevenueCat). If you purchase a subscription, purchase and entitlement data is processed by RevenueCat and the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) to manage it.
- Advertising (Google AdMob). If you watch a rewarded ad to unlock an analysis, Google AdMob serves it. Your device's advertising identifier is used to serve and measure the ad, and we pass your TEKRISE account identifier to Google so the reward can be verified as genuine and credited to you. Whether ads are personalised depends on the choices you make in the consent form, where one is shown to you, and on iOS in Apple's tracking prompt — you can revisit both at any time (see Your rights & choices).
- Crash reporting, analytics and notifications (Google Firebase). Crash reports and basic app activity signals are processed by Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics so we can diagnose failures and understand whether the app is working. Push notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Coaches you connect with (optional). TEKRISE includes optional coaching features. If you choose to connect with a human coach in the app and share a swing with them, that coach can view the swing clip and analysis results you shared and send you written feedback. You choose which swings to share and can stop sharing at any time; a coach only sees swings you explicitly share with them.
We may also share information to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights and safety of our users and our service.
06 Videos That Include Other People
If your swing clip shows anyone other than you — for example a hitting partner, or a player you coach or are a parent of — you must have that person's permission to record and upload them. If they are a minor, you confirm you are their parent or legal guardian, or that you have the consent of their parent or guardian.
You are responsible for the content you upload. By uploading a clip you confirm you have the right to do so and the consent of anyone appearing in it. If you need a video containing another person removed, contact us.
07 Automated Analysis & AI Feedback
Your score and your coaching feedback are produced automatically by software and AI models, without a person reviewing each result. This is simply how the product works: it is training feedback, not a decision about your rights, your money, or your opportunities, and it has no legal or similarly significant effect on you. The output can be incomplete or wrong — see our Terms of Service. If you would like a person to look at a result, contact us.
08 Optional: Helping Us Improve
In your profile you can turn on "Help improve TEKRISE". When this is on, we keep the derived biomechanical measurements from your analyses — joint angles, timing, and similar figures — alongside your analysis history, so we can improve our analysis and coaching over time. We never keep your video for this purpose. If we use these measurements to develop or improve our coaching models, we de-identify them first so they are no longer linked to you.
This setting is off by default. You can turn it on or off at any time in your profile; turning it off stops further collection for this purpose. Leaving it off does not reduce or change the coaching you receive.
09 How Long We Keep It & Deletion
- Your analysis results, scores, and account data are kept while your account is active.
- Uploaded clips: we may delete older ones. We may delete the short clip stored for an analysis once that analysis falls outside your 100 most recent or becomes more than 12 months old, whichever happens first. Those limits are the point beyond which a clip is no longer guaranteed — we may keep a clip for longer, so please do not rely on either one as a deletion date or as a promise of availability. Your coaching text, scores, drills, and progress history are not affected — only the video is removed, so your history stays readable. The full original recording never left your device in the first place, so your own copy is unaffected.
- Guest accounts are not durable storage. If you use TEKRISE without creating an account ("continue as a guest"), your data is tied to that guest session on that device. We may delete guest clips and analyses after 12 months of inactivity, and if you lose the device or clear the app's data we cannot restore a guest account, because there is no email address attached to it. Create an account to keep your history — doing so keeps everything you have already analysed.
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time — see Delete your account, which explains how to request it and the 30-day window we work to. When you do, we delete your profile, your uploaded clips, and your analysis history.
- Some records are kept after deletion. We keep operational and security records of each analysis attempt — including the email address and name on the account at the time, and the coaching text that was generated — so that we can investigate abuse, diagnose failures, and resolve billing disputes. These records are not anonymous. If you want them removed as well, say so when you make your deletion request and we will remove them unless we are required to keep them.
- The full original recordings never leave your device, so deleting those is done on your phone.
10 Your Rights & Choices
- You can edit your profile and change your notification, language, and "Help improve TEKRISE" preferences at any time in the app.
- If you were shown an advertising consent form, your profile has a "Manage ad consent" option that reopens it, so you can change your advertising choices whenever you like. On iOS you can also change tracking permission in your device settings.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data and account by contacting us, or by following Delete your account.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under the GDPR in the EEA/UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California) such as access, deletion, portability, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us below.
- If you are in the EEA or the UK and you believe we have handled your data badly, you have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
11 Cookies & Our Website
Our website does not use cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics, and we do not track you across other sites. Pages that need to talk to our backend — such as the password-reset page — do so only while you are using them.
We serve our fonts from our own site rather than from Google Fonts, so loading a page does not reveal your IP address to a font provider. Our web host keeps standard server logs, which we do not use to profile you.
12 Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Traffic to our backend, to our storage provider, and to the AI provider is encrypted in transit (HTTPS); data is encrypted at rest by our storage and database providers; your sign-in session is held in your device's secure keychain or keystore; and access to your own records is enforced at the database level. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13 International Users
TEKRISE is operated from Australia, and our service providers may process and store data in other countries, including the United States. By using the app you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data-protection laws than your own. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or the UK we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum where it applies) in our agreements with those providers.
14 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the version and effective date above and, where appropriate, ask you to re-accept in the app before you continue.
15 Who We Are & How to Contact Us
TEKRISE is an independent project operated from Australia, and is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For privacy questions, requests, or to report a privacy concern (including a child's data), email us — the same address reaches the person responsible for data protection.
